Searching for a wedding venue can be a long, painstaking, expensive and often confusing task when it comes to planning a wedding. Most brides search and search websites that have lists and reviews and pictures and tons of other vendor suggestions. For Heather, she knew exactly what she wanted: a Chattahoochee River Wedding. She didn’t know, however, how she was going to get a photographer who would be willing to wade through water to capture her special day. She didn’t know, that is, until she saw Mike Moreland waist deep in the middle of the river with his camera, taking photos for a maternity shoot. As soon as he was finished, she enlisted his services to capture her perfect, riverside wedding.
These pictures hold a special place in our hearts as we know they do for Heather and Stephen. Photographing a wedding in the middle of a river was a first for us. But we hope it opens the door for more weddings that think outside the box and perfectly fit our future couples. Congratulations Heather and Stephen. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your intimate and beautiful day!

The day began with preparations at the bride’s home for the bridal party, which consisted of the bride, her son, and the groom.
The home was also to be the location for the reception.
Guests met at the river bank. The wedding was to be small and intimate — after all, there is only so much space on a rock in the river for the bridal party and only so much space on the banks for the wedding guests. Heather customized little carpet squares guests could grab to sit on instead of sitting on the rocks.
A special bridge had to be constructed so the small bridal party and minister could reach the ceremonial rock.
Special permission was requested from the homeowners across the road to allow the bride and groom to park their vehicle near the wedding rock. Guests were carried to the site by shuttle.
The peaceful bank of the Chattahoochie river was the perfect place for such a special day. Heather’s step dad walked her to the aisle, where her dad met her and finished the walk.
In order to photograph the ceremony, we wore rubber boots so he could wade into the middle of the river.
Best moment of the day…
Right after the ceremony, everyone gathered with the newly wed couple on a nearby bridge for a group celebration photo.
The guests were then shuttled to the reception while river shots of the newly weds were taken as the sun set.
Knowing they were going to wade into the water, Heather hiked up her dress and set sail.
Back to the bride’s home for an intimate and delightful reception.
