It’s not everyday your daughter gets married, and for top Atlanta Wedding Photographer Mike Moreland, this might of well have been his first wedding. Mike is the founder and main photographer here at Moreland Photography. He’s been in the wedding business for over 30 years, but none of that prepared him for his own daughter’s wedding. Emily wanted a beautiful but relaxed, vintage but country wedding. Where are you going to find a venue that exhibits all that? Well, long time friends of Mike are Karen and Tom down at Twin Oaks Farm Weddings. Twin Oaks is a gorgeous venue on tons of acres of land, where family and guests can stay for the whole weekend. With the help of the incredible teams from Karen Casey Events, Rosewood Market and Distinctive Events, Emily threw a wedding the Moreland and Farmer families will never forget.

As with most outdoor weddings, the weather can change everything. The summertime in Georgia can be horrible, hitting high temperatures, high humidity and no breeze in sight. It came the special day for Emily and her future husband Michael, and the weather was anything but a traditional Georgia-summer heat advisory day. The rains came in the night before, removing the humidity and dropping the temperature at least 10 degrees, not to mention the perfectly timed breeze we had show up throughout the day.

We’re going to be here all day if we talk about the amount of details that put together this gorgeous wedding. Nothing was overlooked from the tree-themed invitations, escort cards because their ceremony was under the gorgeous Pecan Tree on the grounds to the story cards that glittered all the reception tables. They had a sweet unplugged ceremony as they made their vows and promised forever. They planted a tree using soil from each of their parents home to cultivate their marriage with the love they’ve each received from their families as they bring the sides together in holy matrimony.

Because this was the wedding of Mike’s daughter, he had to put together a team of photographers that would be up to the task of ‘replacing’ the team leader. Mike did photograph Emily’s portraits, as well as some of the wedding party; otherwise it was up to Mike’s team to pull of the day. We kept some very special behind the scenes pictures in the edit of Mike photographing his daughter in her wedding dress. Those are beautiful moments that will truly be treasured forever.
